Final Minutes of Annual Retreat 2017

Minutes of the annual retreat of CMCJ held at Rural Institute for Community Education, Hosur on the 27th & 28th May 2017

The meeting started with the inaugural ceremony. This in turn started with the welcome address by Ms. Cheryl , National Co-ordinator followed by the lighting of the lamp by Dr.Gunavathy and 4 CMCJ members from each state. After which Dr. Guanvathy gave a felicitation address to the group. She rendered her thanks to the convenors and to the children.

4th National Consultation of Children Movement for Climate Justice on 23rd & 24th January 2016 at Visthar, Bangalore

4th National Consultation Meeting which was held on 23rd and 24th January 2016, where 116 Participants who are members of the National working committee, State level committees from Odisha, Andra and Tamilnadu along with members on the official board of CMCJ at Visthar, Bangalore. The meeting also included Rev. Guido Falkenberg – India Team Leader Kindernothilfe, Germany, Mr.Sathish Samuel – KNH India co-ordinator, Dr. James Arputharaj– KNH Country Head , Dr. John Devavaram – CMCJ National convenor , Dr Sasi Praba, Mr Sushant Stanley and Mr Nirmal Raja State convenors of Andra, Odisha, and Tamilnadu, Ms. Deepika – National Co-ordinator ,Co-ordinators of all three States and heads of few partner organisations.

Child Protection Policy Workshop – 2015

Emergining Young Leader Training Report 2015

Climate change is the greatest threat for human security and civilization. It puts enormous challenge for sustainable development of the world. The problem was and is largely being created by one section of the society, while the poor are the main victims of climate change impacts. The various negative impacts of climate change are being felt locally in our country and in our areas, particularly affect the poor families in particular children. Climate change will increase food insecurity, hunger, poverty, migration, disasters, new types of health issues and social conflicts.

NATIONAL CONSULTATION OF CMCJ ON CHILD PROTECTION AND RATIFICATION OF OP3-CRC

The second National consultation on Child Protection and Ratification of OP3 – CRC was held at the Constitution Club, New Delhi from 19th to 21st May 2015. The events for the days were jointly planned with Centre for Social Equity & Inclusion (CSEI), Children Movement for Climate Justice (CMCJ), Human Rights Watch (HRW), National Dalit Movement for Justice (NDMJ) organisations since they were initiating a National Public hearing on identity based discrimination/violence against children in school education to address the issue of marginalisation in educational institutions.

Ozone Day Celebration -2015

CMCJ Tamil Nadu chapter, one of the Partner of RCPDS Celebrated Ozone Day. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, an important milestone in the protection of the ozone layer. The theme for the celebration of the anniversary and this year’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer to be marked on 16 September is, “30 years of healing the ozone together.” The theme is supported by the slogan, “Ozone: All there is between you and UV.”  CMCJ TN Partner- RCPDS have organised the program in MelainthalVillage. This program mainly focuses on the children to aware about the Ozone layer and Ecological rights.


District Level Core Committee in Tamilnadu

CMCJ-TN has successfully formed a District level Core Committee for enabling children to act independently. This core committee consists of 15-20 CMCJ members of the District. They will meet once in a month to prepare action plan at District Level. This committee has appointed a District Coordinator for coordinating the activities with the support State Coordinator. This committee members also meet once in three months to discuss the progress the activities and planning for alternative ways.


Exposure Visit and Exchange programme on migrated children

Children exposure and Exchange programme on migrated children and understand the Status of Children Livelihoods at Pharmaceutical company at Nakkaplli, Visakhapatnam. 25 Children from CMCJ AP have undergone Exposure trips on the Ecologically Destructed areas on various issues on the pollution in the area by the Bauxite company and Hetero Pharmaceutical companies the displaced children issues at Visakhapatnam Children are understood, educated & aware on the impact of Drug Company-The children understood through their interviews, especially the native’s loss their children education, health, livelihoods, dignity, resources for now and forever.

II nd exposure the children had been to Berahampur and exposed on Children Annual function day celebration. 14 children participated from 2 states and 3 districts. 157 Children are Exposed on Organic Farming nearby farms in learn and share experiences.


Millet Campaign

AP organized a millet campaign at Village Jallur Weekly market as the millets are disappeared in the local area, and the team organized an Exhibition by collecting the millets in the nearby villages and placed / exhibited in the Exhibition in weekly market. 150 varieties of Millets and other Indigenous seeds exhibited.


Making Paths by walking together -Keel Idayankulam

Keel-Idaynkulam is a small village consisiting of 64 families’ all dalits- located in the border of Narikudi and Kariapatti blocks of Virudhunagar district. Mayili is a nearby village to Keel-Idaynkulam village where the upper caste people are high which at time reflects in dalit children being discriminated and case conflicts exist.  Dynamic young leaders from Keel-Idayankulam village created a forum of 25 adolescent’s children and youth from to make constructive change in environment and sanitation. Children from the village trained and learned many aspects of climate change its implementation to child rights from Child led ecological learning Centre.  The forum will involve in protecting the environment and sanitation, creating awareness to the local community. They have planted trees in their houses, planted medicinal plants in a common place. They have creatively formed a water channel to medicinal plants farm land from waste water for the effective growth of plants.
